In 2018 I was contacted by Explorers Against Extinction and asked if I would contribute a piece of artwork to a conservation campaign, “Sketch for Survival” to increase awareness of the dangers that threaten the world’s endangered species.

Following the success of the previous auction, the aim for 2018 was to expand a reach to make that year’s art collection one of the largest displays ever of imperiled wildlife. Contributors were asked to create a 26 minute sketch based on the estimation that an elephant is poached for its ivory within that very brief timeline. Like myself, other artists I spoke with, devoted several days to their “sketch” for this crucial cause. In all, the campaign resulted in 330 participants from 30 countries, contributing 420 pieces in support of over 60 endangered species.

Further King was inspired by my advocacy for wildlife preservation and in particular, by my love for cats of all kinds. I created this piece with the hope of bringing awareness to the plight facing our world’s magnificent felines.

African Parks was the 2018 partner charity that benefitted from Sketch for Survival sales, and are now in the process of establishing a working dog program to help safeguard Elephants and the rare Kordofan Giraffe in Garamba, one of Africa’s oldest national parks.

Your generosity and support of this most important mission was paramount to its success. Thank you.
