I often paint with acrylic, but for florals I choose oil for its blending quality. This piece was painted using the grisaille method, which means creating the values (halftones) with a single monochromatic color and then layering actual color on top until the underpainting is completely covered. It’s a more tedious approach, but the end result is luminous!
