While attending a painting workshop in Alaska, a few of us would gather at the end of the day to discuss our plein air experiences. I always positioned myself facing these peaks. I knew that one day a painting would come forth, reflecting the memorable moment when the light danced across those mountains, making them glow and come alive. Although this painting began as a study for a larger work, in its earliest stages it showed me that it could stand on its own as a finished piece.
