BROOKGREEN GARDENS

This special touring exhibition of select works, including a miniature painting by Linda, will feature 45 flatworks and 15 sculptures created by SAA members from around the world and will be on display in the Rainey Sculpture Pavilion. The Society of Animal Artists is comprised of members who produce the best animal art in the world and whose aim is to promote excellence in the portrayal of both domestic and wild animals in art. Over the past 50 years the work created by these artists has established new standards of artistic excellence and respect, helping animal and wildlife art to achieve a place of honor in the field of fine art.

Brookgreen Gardens is the floral jewel of South Carolina's coastal community. Located south of Myrtle Beach, the 9,127-acre property preserves the natural and cultivated landscape of this historic site and contains the largest and most comprehensive collection of American figurative sculpture in the country, displayed in a stunning garden setting. The thousands of acres in Brookgreen's Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve are rich with evidence of the native plants and animals of the South Carolina Lowcountry as well as the rice plantations of the 1800's. At the Lowcountry Zoo, you have the opportunity to see native animals that live in the woods, swamps, and waters in areas maintained as close as possible to their natural habitats.

The show features miniature artwork measuring less than 20 square inches and small works measuring 20-35 square inches created by local, national and international artists.

MINIATURE FINE ART SHOW

The Mobile Arts Council, where the show is being held this year, is located in the heart of LoDa’s Art District, which has the largest selection of local and regional art on the Gulf Coast. The Council is delighted to showcase The Alabama Miniature Art Society’s Spanish Moss Annual Miniature Fine Art Show, the only miniature art show in the state of Alabama.

AMAS’s guidelines are strictly enforced. Paintings must not exceed 25 square inches and subjects may be no larger than 1/6th life size. Framing is the only exception. Unlike other society rules, AMAS’s maximum outer measurement for framing is 90 square inches. Each frame must be of the highest quality consistent with fine art of any size.

The Society of Animal Artists is a world-renowned organization that has become the standard bearer of excellence in the field of animal art and within the greater fine art community.

Linda is very proud to announce that her miniature painting, Resilient Recluse was selected for the Society of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition. This is a great honor as all work goes through a rigorous jury process. With only slightly more than one-third of the total submissions selected for this years show, the exhibition will consist of 92 2D and 31 3D masterpieces.

The 2018 premier showing for Art and the Animal will be held at The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, Florida. Tom and Mary James co-founded the museum to share their collected works in oil, in ink, in stone, that evoke the spirit of a wide open frontier and the beauty of life in the wild. These two dedicated patrons of the arts have succeeded in their aim to share their art, vision and devotion to art with you and thousands of others with the establishment of this unique museum and host venue for the opening of the SAA’s Art and the Animal.

Explorers Against Extinction is a wildlife conservation campaign organized by the UK charity, the Real World Conservation Trust. The primary aim of Sketch for Survival is to raise awareness to the threats facing the world’s most iconic species, their habitats and to raise significant funds to nominated projects to protect them.

The 2018 Sketch for Survival auction site will launch Saturday, September 22nd (World Rhino Day) and close on Sunday, November 25th. The spread between these dates will offer ample time to view all 420 sketches by professional artists, celebrities and other high profiled individuals, place an online bid, and then track the active bidding daily for the piece(s) you wish to own.

All profits from the sale of this artwork will be donated to African Parks to establish a working dog program in Garamba to safeguard Elephants and the rare Kordofan Giraffe. Your generosity and support of this most important cause is paramount to its success. Thank you.

Presented by the OHIO VALLEY ART LEAGUE & THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES

Henderson, Kentucky was the home of John James Audubon, who lived and painted in Henderson from 1810 to 1819. It was here that he set the course toward painting every bird in North America. The purpose of the Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit, held at the Henderson Fine Arts Center, is to increase awareness for the preservation of wildlife and to recognize the artists who derive their inspiration from creatures great and small. The exhibit further encourages the collection of original works of art to admire and enjoy.
