MINIATURE FINE ART SHOW

The Alabama Miniature Art Society’s Spanish Moss Annual Miniature Fine Art Show will be showcased this year at the Ashland Gallery, a beautiful little hidden gem that comes highly recommended by all who visit.

AMAS’s guidelines are strictly enforced. Paintings must not exceed 25 square inches and subjects may be no larger than 1/6th life size. Framing is the only exception. Unlike other society rules, AMAS’s maximum outer measurement for framing is 90 square inches. Each frame must be of the highest quality consistent with fine art of any size. Linda has submitted two miniatures for this year’s show.

The touring exhibition includes 60 paintings, sculptures, and drawings that celebrate the diversity of the animal kingdom. This is the flagship exhibition of The Society of Animal Artists, whose aim is to promote excellence in the portrayal of both domestic and wild animals in art. Linda’s miniature painting Resilient Recluse, bobcat, was selected for inclusion in this 58th annual tour.

The Sternberg Museum of Natural History advances an appreciation and understanding of Earth’s natural history and the evolutionary forces that impact it. The goals of the museum are accomplished through research, publications, collections, interpretive exhibits, and educational programs and welcomes the SAA to their gallery walls.

This fall the newly renovated Cincinnati Museum Center is celebrating the 200th anniversary of its Museum of Natural History & Science. Founded in 1818 as the Western History Society, its doors opened in 1820. Its first employee was famed naturalist and artist, John James Audubon. To help commemorate the 200th anniversary of Audubon’s amazing creative efforts, the Susan Kathleen Black Foundation is sponsoring a unique exhibition at the Cincinnati Museum Center, “In the Audubon Tradition Exhibit & Sale,” featuring the birds and wildlife of North America. The exhibition includes nearly 100 of today’s most celebrated and accomplished painters and sculptors, following in the artistic tradition that John James Audubon began 200 years ago. Explorers Against Extinction is a wildlife conservation campaign organized by the UK charity, the Real World Conservation Trust. The primary aim of Sketch for Survival is to raise awareness to the threats facing the world’s most iconic species, their habitats and to raise significant funds to nominated projects to protect them.

Sketch for Survival 2019 auction site will launch on World Animal Day, Friday, October 4th and close on Sunday, November 17th. This significant online auction comprises sketches, original art, illustrations and cartoons, all depicting endangered wildlife from around the world donated by the professional art community as well as by celebrities. And new this year, the Sketch for Survival collection will be joined by 100 juried pieces from SFS Introducing Competition, and also Focus for Survival, a selection of striking wildlife photography images donated by leading wildlife photographers.

All profits from the sale of the artwork will be gifted to this year’s beneficiaries: Ape Alliance; Giraffe Conservation Foundation; Painted Dog Conservation; and The Mariamma Charitable Trust. Your participation in this important auction will raise significant funds for these nominated projects, that are pivotal in the battle to protect our world’s most highly endangered species from extinction.
