CPA AWARD - November 2010

At the Cider Painters of America National Show, a minimum of three paintings by each artist must be submitted to be considered for the Best of Show award. This honor is bestowed to the artist's collection of works, rather than to a single piece. All five judges unanimously agreed that Linda's paintings, without question, deserved this high honor.

AFC Launches a New
Virtual Gallery
for the 2010
Annual International Exhibit

AFC's new virtual gallery is now open. This is the 3rd Annual International Exhibit of Nature in Art featuring the original art of its members from around the world. Linda is proud to announce her painting Apple Blossom Time was selected for inclusion in this very special event. This year no physical exhibit will take place as AFC decided to introduce its new virtual gallery as a way to better connect with collectors in all corners of the globe.

If you love nature art, but may not be able to afford your favorite original, accompanying the exhibition is a high-quality, full color, hardcover book (pictured above) available for purchase on AFC's site. Also available is an equally high-quality 2011 calendar of twelve works as well as a selection of blank greeting cards and holiday cards of selected artworks from the exhibition.

To see all artwork in the 2010 exhibition and to experience the ultimate experience in on-line viewing, visit the newly launched Virtual Gallery of Nature in Art. You will be amazed at how many different ways you will be able to navigate this site! www.ArtistsForConservation.org/exhibit2010

1st PLACE AWARD for Birds & Animals - November 2010
Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society of Washington, DC

This may be a very simple looking
painting, but its accuracy, incredible
detail, use of values and color, plus
the frame selection, make Hello Dolly
an outstanding total package!

Keep 'em Comin'!
BEST IN SHOW - November 2010
Council for the Arts, Chambersburg, PA

This is another example where big things can happen to small packages. Out of all the entries in this show, the judge for this year's event felt Hello There! was a "very daring composition" and an overall fabulous painting with the use of backlighting on the teeny tiny subject.

(The penny on the artwork is only for scale.)

Blue Ribbon Award - October 2010
The Art Gallery of Fells Point, Baltimore, MD

Sometimes the smallest miniature makes the biggest impression when it comes to judging, especially if graphics are strong and painted well. This was obviously the case for Souvenirs, a mere 1 1/4 x 1 1/4" painting, to have received a 1st Place Award at the gallery's 27th annual miniature fine art exhibition in Baltimore.

And This Makes Three
BEST IN SHOW - May 2010
Parklane Gallery, Kirkland, WA

Another big surprise was in store for Linda when she received a note from a friend congratulating her on another Best of Show award for Canyon Country! "You could have knocked me over with a feather!" said the artist. This was again an example of a regional scene, where Linda white water rafted for 110 miles through Hell's Canyon on the Snake River, and felt it would be a befitting landscape painting for the show. "With deadlines looming I had a choice to paint quality or quantity. I chose quality, and focused on doing my best for my one and only submission."

BEST IN SHOW - May 2010
Artistic Designs Gallery
4th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show, Indiana.

Linda was thrilled when she found out she had won another
Best in Show award, especially because the scene she depicted
is specific to the region. "I got the idea for this painting last
minute and worked right up to the deadline. By burning the
midnight oil I managed to finish
Freshwater Dunes on time.
I am so very pleased I made this extra effort!
"

BEST IN SHOW - February 2010

The Alabama Miniature Art Society's Spanish Moss Juried Miniature Art Show of the SE recently presented its awards to the show winners. This is the first time Linda submitted works to this event and she's glad she did. All of her entries were accepted and she won the most coveted award for any artist - Best in Show!
