AMERICANA AWARD — NOVEMBER 2021
Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society of Washington, DC

In November of 2021, MPSGS held their 88th Annual International Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature at the beautiful Mansion at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland. There are six top awards determined on each pieces ability to use creativity, the overall concept, execution, technique, and composition. Among these, one award honors the painting which best captures the American spirit. Linda was delighted to receive the Cider Painters of America Americana Award for her Flying High portrait of a majestic Bald Eagle.

In the words of judge, Carol Lee Thompson, “you can’t get more America than this.” Linda’s inspiration for the painting comes from her own backyard as she explains, “Our lake, Lake Hopatcong, is the largest freshwater body in New Jersey with 45 miles of shoreline. Over a period of the last ten years, at least four nesting pairs of Bald Eagles have moved in and these magnificent raptors often fish in my backyard. With an impressive wing span of 5 to 7 feet, eagles are truly a sight to behold.”

FIRST PLACE FOR ACRYLICS — NOVEMBER 2021
Cider Painters of America, Mainstreet Galleries, Kingston, PA

Due to scheduling issues, Linda was only able to enter one painting in Cider Painters of America 38th Annual International Exhibit of Miniature Fine Art. But sometimes all it takes is just one entry to be recognized as a prize winner. CPA has many categories for awards, but to receive “best” for any media is a top honor. When this year's judge was presented with all of the paintings in the acrylic category, the judge immediately gravitated to Linda’s Autumn in the Barrens. Linda's skillful and delicate handling of this often unyielding medium unquestionably deserved the Best of Acrylics award.

HONORABLE MENTION AWARD — OCTOBER 2021
Council For The Arts, Chambersburg, PA

The Council’s Miniature Art exhibition started in 1984 by gallery owner Becky Dietrich at “A Little Gallery” in Mont Alto, Pennsylvania. The annual exhibit was graciously passed onto the Council For The Arts in 1996 when its popularity caused it to outgrow its original gallery space. Since that time, the show has grown significantly with the number of submitting artists increasing each year. With 190 beautiful tiny works on display, from more than 300 entries, Linda feels quite honored to not only have had all of her submissions accepted, but doubly honored to have Swing King singled out for an Honorable Mention award.

AN AWARD OF MERIT — SEPTEMBER 2021
Mountainside Art Guild, Lakewood, CO

Being recognized for any award is always an honor, no matter how large or small a show may be. The number of prizes given are usually based on the size of an exhibition. In other words, the smaller the show, the fewer the awards. Mountainside Art Guild’s 17th annual miniature exhibition held at the Lakewoods Art Center, was one of the smaller shows with just 100 works juried in for display. So you can imagine the warm and fuzzy feeling Linda got when it was announced that out of only eight prizes, a Merit Award was given to I Love You Man.

HONORABLE MENTION AWARD — JULY 2021
Heartland Art Guild, Paola, KS

Good things come in small packages, and such was the case at the 16th annual Hearland Art Guild International Miniature Painting and Sculpture Show held at the Miami County Historical Museum in Paola, Kansas. Show entries from 65 artists came from all across the United States, as well as Wales, Australia and South Africa. Out of the 204 miniatures on display, Linda was very pleasantly surprised when she received notice that Bright Eyes was recognized with an Honorable Mention award!

This is what the judge, Donna Yeager said about Linda’s painting: Bright Eyes is an exquisite acrylic painting. With the expert skill of the artist, you can almost feel the softness of the fur. Her use of cropping creates an intimacy and importance to the cat, which gives this piece a unique composition. Linda’s handling of edges and variety of colors, adding to the strong drawing, was done expertly.

FIRST PLACE AWARD FOR ANIMALS — MAY 2021
Seaside Art Gallery, Nags Head, NC

Linda received notice that her miniature painting of an expressive pug, No Way! won First Place for Animals at Seaside Art Gallery’s 30th International Miniature Art Show that featured nearly 600 miniature works from around the world. Housed in the peaceful ambience of the Seaside Art Gallery in Nags Head, NC, this exhibition is one of the largest and most diverse international miniature art shows in all of the fifty states of America.

Judge’s comments for No Way!: The exquisitely rendered eyes certainly match the title with their conveyed demeanor. The subtle, but masterful use of cool color in the dog’s fur, nose and mouth all lend themselves subservient to the warm gaze and glint in the eyes. The artist has made sure we know, this painting is all about the eyes and they keep bringing you back to their attitude.

SECOND PLACE FOR LANDSCAPES & THIRD PLACE FOR ANIMALS,
MINIATURES IN MARIPOSA — MARCH 2021
Sierra Artists Gallery, Mariposa, CA

The Elizabeth Specht Memorial Miniatures in Mariposa art show may be over, but the honor of winning awards will live on. Linda received two awards at this annual showing of miniature artworks at the Sierra Artists Gallery in Mariposa, California. She was honored with a Third Place for a southern New Jersey landscape, Autumn in the Barrens and a Second Place for her painting of a very familiar kitty, Golden Boy.

Located in the heart of downtown Mariposa, Sierra Artists Gallery is in close proximity of Yosemite and the beautiful Sierra Foothills. Linda was delighted to be recognized amongst the elite group of international, professional artists whom contributed artwork to the gallery, now open five days a week.
